Yesterday, an unknown Fulani Herdsman has allegedly stabbed a
farmer to death in Yala Local Government Area off Cross River State.
According to one pastor Emmanuel Ezama who posted the incidence on
his facebook wall, the deceased farmer confronted the Fulani herdsmen over the
destruction of his farm land where he had planted yams, cassava and other crops
and that was how he met his death as the Fulani herdsmen stabbed him to death.
Reacting to the death of their brother, Itigidi farmers burnt the
houses and destroyed proprieties owned by the Fulani Herdsmen forcing the
Fulani herdsmen to forcefully vacate Okpodon Community where they were settling.
Members of the Okpodon Community are calling on the Government to
wade into the issue
“Fulani herdsmen stab farmer to death in Ukelle North, Yala
LGA of CRS. Fulani herdsmen stab a farmer when confronted over the destruction
of his Cassava and yam crops yesterday. In reaction to the action of the Fulani,
the ITIGIDI farmers had burnt their thatched houses. At about 1.00am the Fulani
herdsmen had forcefully packed out of Okpodon Community where they were
settling. Government should please wade in.” said Pastor Emmanuel
